What’s the Best CBD Dosage?

CBD Dosage

Cannabidiol(CBD) is one of the most popular cannabinoids, or chemical compounds, derived from the cannabis plant. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD has no psychoactive properties (meaning it will not get one “high”). However, CBD does have a wide range of health benefits and uses. CBD has been known to reduce inflammation/physical pain, combat anxiety, mitigate the likelihood of seizures, and even prevent cancer. There are also a number of ways in which CBD is consumed. Some of the most popular consumption methods include vaporizers, CBD oil, edibles, and CBD creams/ointments. Despite a wide range of CBD options, it can be difficult to gauge what method of CBD consumption is best suited for one’s medical needs. Additionally, it can be even more difficult to determine the right dosage of CBD, as well as how to properly administer doses depending on how it is being absorbed into the body. For one, the FDA has not created a recommended daily intake for CBD, so there is no official standard regarding how much CBD is too much or too little to take.

Most consumers of CBD tend to administer their doses based on recommendations from CBD companies and brands, which are not always completely accurate. Determining the right dose is important in maximizing the health benefits of CBD, and is contingent upon a variety of factors such as weight, genetics, diet, and metabolism. Being knowledgeable of how to properly administer CBD doses can truly make or break one’s CBD experience.

So how does one determine the correct dose? The best dose depends on how the CBD is being consumed as well as what the CBD is being used to treat. Typically, one can determine a proper dose based on his/her body weight. Like any substance, people with greater body mass will naturally require more CBD to experience its effects. A general rule of thumb is to take anywhere from 1 – 6mg of CBD for every 10lbs of body weight, depending on the severity of pain. For example, 15 – 25mg of CBD would be appropriate for someone who weighs 150lbs, where 20 – 33mg would be appropriate for a patient who weighs 200lbs. Furthermore, recommended doses can change depending on the specific health condition that is being treated. The Mayo Clinic created CBD dosage recommendations for a variety of illnesses, and are as follows: 2.5 – 25mg for chronic pain, 200 – 300mg for epilepsy, 20 – 40mg for glaucoma, and 40 – 160mg for sleep disorders.

When evaluating dosage recommendations, it is incredibly important to begin as small as possible and work up to an amount that produces desired results. Everyone’s body is different and responds differently to CBD. Therefore, it is likely that the way acertain dose affects one person will be different for another. Finally, different methods of consumption such as vaping and CBD oil are more potent than others. Thus, one should also be mindful of the fact that the way in which they are consuming CBD might affect their ability to dose properly. Our Cannabidiol pain relief creams and CBD roll on can be a nice and subtle “initiation” into CBD usage. For one, you will be absorbing through the skin rather than consuming it. Along with that, given the other plant based products we combine with CBD, like willow bark and menthol, a little will go a long way to reducing pain. Start slow and see how your body reacts.
